English Dub Review: The Unaware Atelier Meister “The Margrave’s Secret”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
While the group distracts the Margrave, Akuri warps Kurt into the forbidden room hiding the Margrave’s secret.
Our Take:
The Atelier crew’s rescue mission has already hit a snag when the Margrave hires Kurt to make his scrumptious buns for him. Considering the amount of problems that Kurt has run into this season, it’s unsurprising that the unaware handyman would wind up in a situation like this. However, that can also be seen as a positive outcome, as Kurt and Akuri’s attempt to rescue Hildegard leads to them discovering a shocking secret that Margrave Taicone has hidden for years. This secret comes in the form of Taicone’s daughter, Famil, who fell victim to an aging curse when she was young, making her appear like an older woman despite sounding pretty young.
However, that’s not even the worst part, as another secret was revealed regarding why Taicone imprisoned Hildegard. He wanted to transplant her cells into Femil’s body as a form of eternal youth, which sounded like a fate worse than death and even the aging curse. It’s also revealed that Hildegard’s “immortality” is due to Kurt rescuing her with his medicine during their childhood, with his tiny error in his concoction being the primary cause. Unsurprisingly, given Hildegard’s demonic personality, she did not take this side effect lightly.
In short, “The Margrave’s Secret” is just one big secret revealed after another. With the show’s first season nearing its conclusion, it’s only fair for this episode to provide these surprising revelations leading up to its climatic closure. Sadly, regarding my experience with the series so far, these reveals haven’t done much to reinvigorate its tedious concept, with only one exception. The episode concluded with Famil wanting Hildegard to kill her own father, but for what reason? Honestly, the show is just too draining with its humor and formulaic plot for me to care at this point.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
