English Dub Review: I Left My A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths! “The World Turns Inside-Out”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Clover’s inspection of the dungeon in Salmutaria suddenly takes a frightening turn.

Our Take:
Like what happened in the previous dungeon endeavor, Yuke and his team have found themselves in a situation that they couldn’t handle alone.  The mysterious dungeon in Salmutaria has already caused devastating effects on the country, including the sudden appearance of a Stampede.  This leads Clover to tackle the next phase of their dungeon exploration until more reinforcements arrive.  Of course, with the Stampede running amok, it could prove dangerous if a simple mistake were to occur.  But knowing the team, they know how to lift themselves up in the face of uncertainty, especially when Rune helps out for the first time.
However, their latest plan was interrupted by two obstacles that could play a role in the remaining episodes, with the mysterious black dome being the most crucial.  The dome blocking the dungeon’s entrance is known as a Tenebre, which is an inversion of a world, similar to the void that Yuke and Rune traveled in back in Duna.  The Tenebre that also appeared in other areas lead to a revelation of the dungeon’s connection to Achromatic Darkness, where the Abyss Gate introduced in the first episode has been unlocked.  This prompted Clover to return to Finis and close the gate for good.  Unfortunately, there’s also the matter of Mastoma’s brother, First Prince Rafuma, who arrived to dampen Mastoma’s plan to save his people from the dangerous threat.
“The World Turns Inside-Out” is another exposition-filled episode that didn’t feel too much like filler.  However, the expansion of its world-building can get a bit complicated to comprehend initially.  With the introduction of the Tenebre and its connection to Achromatic Darkness, the show also has the opportunity to conclude the half-year-long season on a more satisfactory note.  Whether this arc will also pack a more thrilling punch than the others likely depends on the execution of the next few episodes.  I highly doubt it would be something special considering the hit-and-miss direction we’ve seen in the previous episodes, but at least the show still had enough tolerable moments to get me interested in the season’s tail end.
