Review: Krapopolis “Don Tyxote”

Overview

Ty gets a fancy new suit and with it, the confidence to invade Persia; Delira and Shlub role-play.

Our Take

As this show progresses it’s becoming more and more apparent Alex Rubens becoming the new showrunner was the correct move to make. Krapopolis has slowly morphed Hippo into Rick Sanchez and this week’s episode was as close to Pickle Rick as we’ve gotten thus far in the show’s two season run and I’m very excited to see where that additional character development will lead to over the next couple of seasons on FOX.

As for the two main plots, Ty dressing up as Mussolini and attempting to invade countries headed by Gary Cole portraying a Persian leader was not on my Bingo card for this season but I’m happy we got to experience that on the show’s penultimate episode of the season. Granted the beats to the story are becoming familiar fare for the series, but I still enjoyed seeing Ty kind of lead into a bit more of an assertive leader.

Lastly, we’ve seen a number of innuendo-laden premises with Delira and Shlub this season and this one wasn’t all that different than the others we’ve seen thus far. Quite frankly, it’s even starting to become like a paint-by-numbers trope that hopefully will evolve or be eliminated altogether in the coming seasons.

Overall, a decent episode of Krapopolis that certainly followed the show’s formulas that have already been here and there over the course of the season, but Hippo’s whole bit has given me hope that there’s some weirder terrain that this show can cover in the near future.
