English Dub Review: To Be Hero X “Three Seats”

Yang Cheng seeks revenge for what happened to Shang Chao.

If you’re not watching this then you need to correct that mistake and start watching NOW. This has become a show I look forward to every week. It’s a little frustrating that this show isn’t getting talked about very much. If you go to the anime subreddit they refuse to talk about it because it’s technically not an anime. It’s a donghua which is the name for Chinese animation but believe me when I say that anyone who isn’t giving To Be Hero X a chance because it isn’t a “traditional” anime is making a huge mistake.

Yang Cheng has become one of the more tragic figures I’ve seen recently. After Shang Chao is killed he makes it his mission to become the one and only E-Soul. He feels that Shang Chao’s death is his fault and as we seeing during the fight, it might have been. It looked like he let his jealousy of Shang Chao hold him back from reaching him as fast as he otherwise might have.

It was heartbreaking to see Xia Qing all alone at the Lucky Cian concert while Yang fought for his life. This arc might be more bittersweet than the last and so far that’s the only negative I have to say about this series. Can we please get an arc that ends on a happy note? I’m sure it’s all leading to something but it’s still sad. Having said that, this episode was fantastic and seeing Uncle Rock being the one pulling the strings the whole time I think I can see how Yang turned into someone that might shoot Moon.
