English Dub Season Review: Honey Lemon Soda Season One
Overview:
Uka Ishimori is excited to start at Hachimitsu High School. She ended up sitting next to Kai Miura, who is why she decided to attend this school. Even though he’s one of the popular kids, Miura takes Ishimori under his wing and helps her find her self-confidence.
Our Take:
Monica Flatley and Chris Hackney play our two leads and do a fantastic job. Hackney, at this point, is a veteran VA, and you know what you’re gonna get from him. Monica is a newer VA, and the main thing I had heard of her before this was her role as Rouge in Metallic Rouge. I didn’t finish that show, but what I watched I enjoyed, and I liked what she brought to the character. Her voice for Ishimori was great because Ishimori isn’t the most confident of people, and you can hear it in her voice.
I think when you compare Honey Lemon Soda to all the other romance animes that aired this season, it stands well above them. Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You, for example, was a garbage show in my eyes. The most negative thing I have to say about Honey Lemon Soda in comparison is that it’s not getting a second season as of yet when that show is. I would much prefer if this show had gotten a second season instead because it progresses.
One of the main reasons I want a second season is that we didn’t get a lot of progression from Miura. The whole season showed the growth of Ishimori, and our girl came a long way. She was able to tell Miura exactly how she felt, and they ended up together as a result. But I want more because it felt like we barely touched on Miura, and I hate it when an anime ends right when the couple gets together.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
