English Dub Review: Teogonia “Kai of Lag Village”

Overview:

Kai’s destiny changes when he reproduces an ability that he saw in a strange dream.

Our Take:

This show left a few crumbs that have me very interested in where this could go. If I’m not mistaken, Kai might be an isekai’d person. He has dreams of another world that is clearly modern day Japan and while no one has ever heard of a rice ball, he somehow knows they would be delicious. It could be a main part of the story or a fun little Easter egg for us isekai fans.

I’ve noticed that in anime for whatever reason they always portray orcs as looking like giant pigs. But the interesting thing about all of the “demi-humans” is they all have a god vessel. It seems like that’s just their version of a heart but even the humans have one too. If you drink what is that vessel you become stronger but those are mostly reserved for the strongest of the village.

The way the village is ran has some pretty unflattering similarities to how our own country is being ran. Those at the top get all the privileges and they keep those at the bottom in line by giving them hope that they might one day get more by working harder.
