English Dub Review: I Left My A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths! “The Capital Distorted by the Twilight”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Clover takes their first dive into the new dungeon near Duna, and everything they encounter feels off somehow.

Our Take:
Clover’s return to adventuring kicks off with a brand new dungeon to explore in Duna.  Thankfully, Thunder Pike isn’t around to steal all of their thunder, if you know what I mean.  But as usual, this dungeon is far from a typical cakewalk for this team of underdogs.  If they thought Achromatic Darkness was the weirdest dungeon they encountered, then this one is going to blow their minds twice as hard.  In addition to a mysterious chain-like monster and its office-like residence, Clover discovers a floor that takes the form of a city known as Glad Shi-im.  While this floor won’t be fully explored until next week’s episode, it did give us a glimpse of a couple of new characters that could play crucial roles in later ones.  One is a spiritual old man named Loge, who seems to know Yuke quite well, and the other is an unconscious young girl.
The episode offered a middling first exploration of Duna’s newest dungeon that might overtake Achromatic Darkness as the world’s most outlandish dungeon.  The stuff in between was only minor or pointless occurrences that were quickly resolved, such as Yuke’s trauma from his encounter with Simon.  However, the one issue that might come into play in later episodes is Rain’s grandfather, Count Crowder, who’s forcing her into an arranged marriage with the Second Prince of Salmutaria.  The one solution Yuke has to combat this problem is to form a temporary marriage with Rain, which may or may not strain Clover’s teamwork and communication.  Regardless, Clover’s strategic and supportive chemistry still shines in the second half’s average attempt to raise the stakes through Duna’s mysterious dungeon.
