Review: The Great North “Silence of the Dams Adventure”

Overview

Honeybee accidentally revives an old Lone Moose curse, sending a terrifying creature after her and the Tobins.

Our Take

If I were to guess, I would guess that this week’s episode of The Great North was probably set up at one point as a Halloween special based on the sheer amount of horror-induced imagery that we get for “Silence of the Dams Adventure”. Even the title of the episode sounds quite a bit more violent than your atypical episode of the series which usually come in with episodes named with a bunch more levity.

With that, Carlee Malemute weaves a tale that packs a WALLOP when it is finally revealed the true nature of the character that comes after the Tobins seeking redemption after Honeybee unveils the aforementioned Lone Moose curse. And boy am I happy that THIS premise largely covers up the fact that we nearly got into a whole premise about a board game that almost guaranteed would’ve put ME to sleep.

A special kudos should go out to Aimee Steinberger and the whole team at Bento Box for putting in that little extra to truly make a spooky as fuck adventure that was as wholesome (Honeybee is just too cute for words) as it was terrifying which just goes to show how multi-talented the producers of this show really are. Add in the fact that we got a crazy ass death metal end credits song, and you’ve got yourself a winning effort.

Yes, I am understanding of the fact that horror and spooky can be a year-round thing and that the fact that this week’s episode of The Great North shouldn’t necessitate a guaranteed time of the year slot, but I actually think that’s more on FOX or maybe even Hulu’s loss more than anything else because someone missed out on a fun episode that they could’ve sold some candy with months ago!
