English Dub Review: Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms “Best Friend with Him”

Overview:

Tomo, Mona’s childhood friend from Osaka, is here in Tokyo and ready to cause chaos!

Our Take:

I did want to hear Mona taling with her accent more and with her friend Tomo joining her class as a transfer it seems I’ll get to do that. But it sure seems like Tomo is the type of character to speed things up on the Medaka front. I’m hoping that she doesn’t fall in love with Medaka as well because I think that Asahi and Mona are more than enough and I like how this show is somewhat of an anti-harem.

It’s getting harder for me to not root for Asahi especially because she knows she has feelings for Medaka and is willing to act on them. I’m sorry but I find it hard to believe that Mona has no idea what “falling in love” feels like. If you get jealous when someone else even talks to someone then you have to admit to yourself that you have some form of affection when it comes to that person. If she was debating on acting on those feelings that would be one thing but instead she doesn’t even think she has them. When she says “Isn’t that up to me?” I get what she’s saying but ultimately I’ve learned that no it isn’t. If you have feelings for someone you can’t exactly decide it.
