English Dub Review: Magic Maker: How to Make Magic in Another World “I Will Do the Healing”
Overview
Marie is gravely ill and strange monsters have attacked. Shion is determined to do everything he can to help.
Our Take
Picking up from the “previous episode” Shion is going through a crisis regarding Marie’s condition along with the condition of many other people affected by the “Lethargy disease”. And really sells the drama, making his journey to find a cure feel all the more impactful. This balance of introspection and motivation made for a compelling watch.
The episode’s 2nd half mostly served as an introduction of new characters which brought a mix of excitement and uncertainty. Their presence hinted at deeper mysteries, particularly regarding magic and its limitations. Meanwhile, the evolving exploration of magical mechanics remained a highlight, weaving naturally into the plot. As Shion’s understanding of the world deepened, new questions emerged, teasing intriguing developments ahead….
Overall, the episode successfully combined emotional weight with narrative progression, though some shifts in tone may not resonate with everyone, the world-building continues to impress. With certain character and pacing choices being potentially divisive. Still, the story remains engaging, with new discoveries and challenges keeping things unpredictable. As the stakes rise, the protagonist’s next steps could prove crucial even it potentially stumbles with it’s pacing.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
