English Dub Review: Loner Life in Another World “Life in Town”

Overview:

After arriving in the town of Omui, the group heads for the Adventurers Guild. Haruka, however, is not a high enough level.

Our Take:

Haruka is an interesting character because he doesn’t seem “overpowered” per se but he makes the most of his useless skills. This isn’t the first isekai that uses that idea by any means, but it does feel like one of the first that doesn’t make him stupidly strong, at least not yet. Haruka also hasn’t shown off too many insufferable character traits as of yet, but that’s not to say I love him as a character.

He makes dumb mistakes and probably takes more shit than he should from Class Rep. I was hoping for a potential romantic pairing for the two but after the last few episodes I don’t like her very much because all she does is yell at Haruka for wanting to do his own thing.

For some reason outsiders aren’t allowed to leave the town, so Haruka has to sneak out. While he’s out there, he ends up rescuing a noble girl. Turns out she’s the daughter of the mayor of the town he just snuck out of. We’ll see if this chance encounter manages to make this show more interesting than it has been so far.
