English Dub Review: Loner Life in Another World “Haruka & the Hooded Man”

Overview:

Tanaka reveals his true evil side. It’s all Haruka can do to avoid getting hit, and things are starting to look bad.

Our Take:

The first part of this episode was pretty enjoyable because there was a big fight scene for the majority. I like how Tanaka is well on his way to becoming the OP. That’s one thing about an isekai where the whole class gets transported that I would like to see explored, and this kind of did. Haruka isn’t overpowered; he’s just extremely lucky, which isn’t quite the same thing and is refreshing enough.

What isn’t refreshing is how often the class rep ruins Haruka’s plans and doesn’t let him do what he wants. Haruka wants to be left alone, free to be a loner in this world, but she keeps pulling him back, and all the other girls seem upset when he tries to leave too. If he looked sad or felt left out, that would be one thing, but he just enjoys being alone. There’s nothing wrong with that, and I think the class rep might have feelings for him or something and doesn’t want him to go. I understand that, but it’s not like he’s gonna disappear forever. Let him go do his thing and be happy, and you can find him later. It frustrates me to no end, and I think that’s why the show has the title it does.
