Disney Animation Studios To Move Away From Long-Form Productions For Streamers
Disney’s 20th Television Animation has some of the most-watched series on streaming as of now and Marvel Animation’s Brad Winderbaum has recently noted that 2026 will feature new seasons of X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man both of which are currently in production. The odd-man out seems to be Disney Animation Studios which according to a new report from THR will be holding off on producing anymore long-form animated content for streamers like Disney+ anytime soon.
The news comes as Disney+ shelves numerous announced and unannounced series for the foreseeable future. It should also be noted that Disney recently canceled Moon Girl: Devil Dinosaur, Hailey’s On It!, The Owl House, and The Ghost and Molly McGee all in the last year. I hear that the just premiered StuGo was also nearly canceled but Disney reversed course because the series had a good amount of viewership to warrant more new episodes.
Will more heads roll at the Mouse House? It seems older-skewing animation may be fine for a while, but the kids stuff nobody seems to give a shit about anymore.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
