Review: RICK AND MORTY: RICKLEMANIA #1 (of 4)
Overview
Wrestling fever has struck the Smith household! After stumbling across a wrestling channel on TV, Morty becomes obsessed with the Interdimensional Wrestling Federation and begs Rick to take him to one of their bare-knuckle brawls. While there, Jerry ends up signing an exploitative contract with the IWF’s sponsor, PRO Energy Drink. Rick and Morty must break Jerry out of the contract, and the only way to do so is to enter the ring and fight their way out!
Our Take
Writer/artist Marc Ellerby lives in the UK where AEW has been hosting big events at Wembley Stadium for the last couple of years or so it really isn’t a stretch to think that eventually that both the worlds of professional wrestling and Rick and Morty would one day collide and turn into a mini-series event that will commence with four parts over the next several months.
The first issue deals with the setup that you can read more about above and it’s not unlike what we just got from Adult Swim’s recent Invincible Fight Girl series where it’s fairly evident a fan of professional wrestling is writing this story. Everything from the ostentatious opponents to cut promos and everything in between, if you are a professional wrestling fan you’re going to love the juxtaposition with the Rick and Morty universe.
Color me mildly amused as to what’s to come. I’m already enjoying Rick’s sanity being lost and Morty wrestling in just the most revealing of outfits that I’ve seen this side of 1960’s-era Batman and Robin. I’m looking forward to the next few issues to see where this all ends up.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
