FOX Kicks Season Five Return Of “The Great North” Due To NASCAR Rain Delay
If you were like me last night you were a little miffed that NASCAR had a rain delay which caused most of the Animation Domination schedule to shift by two hours and then only showcase the brand-new episodes of Krapopolis, Family Guy, and Grimsburg. The odd-man out was The Great North which did NOT debut it’s returning season five episode entitled “The Prince of Hides Adventure” which will instead debut next week and shift the weekly airings for the rest of the season back a week accordingly.
It was rather fascinating to see The Great North being the odd-man-out of the situation, the series which is in it’s fifth season has already had an odd airing schedule the last few months with random airings in September, then December, then this whole mess with the NASCAR rain delay that saw FOX continue to air the other three series but NOT this one. It should be noted that the series has NOT been renewed for a sixth season just yet so says co-creator Wendy Molyneux who posted an impassioned plea on her socials last night to make sure everybody watches the season five return that eventually did not happen.
I’m sure this schedule mishap will have a dominoes effect with the rest of the episodes airing that may or may not include a doubling-up of some sort so as to correct when all of the season finales will air. In the meantime, keep it locked here and we’ll update with any scheduling changes in the future and you can read our recent interview with the Molyneux sisters here who talk all about the rest of the fifth season.
Synopsis
The Great North is an animated comedy series following the Alaskan adventures of the Tobin family, as single dad Beef (Nick Offerman) does his best to keep his bunch of kids close – especially his only daughter, Judy (Jenny Slate), whose artistic dreams lead her away from the family fishing boat and into the glamorous world of the local mall. Rounding out the family are Judy’s older brother, Wolf (Will Forte), and his wife, Honeybee (Dulcé Sloan), middle brother Ham (Paul Rust) and 10-year-old-going-on-50 little brother Moon (Aparna Nancherla). While their mother is not in the picture, Judy seeks guidance from her boss, Alyson (Megan Mullally), and her imaginary friend, Alanis Morissette (voicing herself), who appears to her in the Northern Lights.
The series was created and written by Bob’s Burgers executive producers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, as well as writer Minty Lewis (Regular Show). The Molyneux sisters serve as executive producers and showrunners. Bob’s Burgers creator Loren Bouchard is also an executive producer. The Great North is a 20th Television Animation production, and animation is produced through Bento Box Entertainment.
The Great North returns with new episodes this Sunday Night @ 9 pm ET/PT, check your local listings and pray to God for no more NASCAR rain delays.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
