This time around, we get a two-year time skip, where everyone is more accustomed to magic, and some characters, like Rose, show noticeable growth. However, Marie’s new look, with shorter hair, feels a bit generic in comparison to her previous appearance.

However the story takes a more dramatic turn when a character falls ill, and the group sets out to find a cure. There’s a chase sequence that, while fun, could have benefited from better animation to build the tension instead of random still images mixed with shaky-cam. But later on, it’s revealed that the illness appears to be tied to a larger magical event, that’s potentially combined with a haunting encounter that Shion would later have…

Overall, this episode raised the stakes by introducing a supernatural threat beyond routine magic progression. The connection between magic and the real world deepened, with even non-magic users witnessing supernatural events. The writing remains stronger, but the show suffers from budget constraints that hold back its full potential. Despite some awkward animation choices, the plot remains engaging, and if handled well, this arc could take the series to the next level, I’m curious to see what direction this could take…
