Signe Baumane Announces Stellar English Cast For Next Feature “Karmic Knot”
Fresh from a successful year of My Love Affair With Marriage, director Signe Baumane has been teasing records for an upcoming project that was kept under wraps…until now. Currently in production with her company The Marriage Project comes Karmic Knot which has just announced Patrick Wilson (as Ansis) and Matthew Modine (as Imants) as part of the cast. The rest of the cast includes Stephen Lang (as Victors), Emma Kenney (as Zinta), Gracie Lawrence (as Ragne) and Dagmara Dominczyk (as Vizma).
“Karmic Knot” tells the multi-generational story of a tight-knit family striving to survive in Soviet-occupied Latvia from the 1970s to the early 1990s. As the Soviet Union collapses, the family aspires to rebuild their world, even more insular than before, while one member harbors ambitions that could change everything.
The news comes as it was recently announced that Signe’s collection of shorts including Teat Beat of Sex and Rocks In My Pockets will be part of the OVID streaming service starting February 2025. The slate is as follows:
Rocks In My Pockets

Debuts: 2/13
Synopsis: A funny film about depression. The film is based on true events involving five women of Signe Baumane’s family, including herself, and their battles with depression and suicide. It raises questions of how much family genetics determine who we are and if it is possible to outsmart one’s own DNA. The film is packed with visual metaphors, surreal images and a twisted sense of humor.
Teat Beat of Sex

Debuts: 2/14
A collection of animated shorts about sex from the vantage point of a woman.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
