Review: Invincible Fight Girl “The Rusty Rumble”

Overview

Having a better understanding of what makes the city tick, Andy and the gang devise a Hail Mary to score points in the Glam Slam; the match brings new combat and challenges for Andy, who will need to conquer both to secure victory.

Our Take

The Rusty Rumble refers to an event that features local wrestlers vying to take the next step in their professional wrestling careers. Naturally, we spend the entirety of the episode looking for an opponent for Andy of which we find two but the second battle won’t commence until next week.

For wrestling fans who were expecting that an episode with the word “Rumble” in it’s title would give off vibes of say WWE’s Royal Rumble or even David Arquette’s Ready to Rumble, you’ll be delighted to hear that neither of things happen here. Instead, we get more of a filler episode that sets up a showdown for the final two episodes of the show’s freshmen season AND starts nudging both sides of the “Andy trying to enlist Aunt P. to train her” arc towards an eventual conclusion that seems to be obvious at this point but we’ll see.

Still though, the episode featured a number of hilariously illustrated character designs and the sucker that ends up being Andy’s first opponent was great and I hope he comes back. Next week we get the two-part season finale with the question being will Andy get to woo Aunt P into submission to take her on as a student and master the perfect strike?
