Mubi Acquires Grand Theft Hamlet Announces Release Date
Machinima is slated to go back into the mainstream with the announcement that Mubi has acquired the international distribution rights for the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Hamlet.
The feature-length documentary follows out-of-work actors staging a recreation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet in the world of Grand Theft Auto produced during COVID because we all had oodles of time on our hands. After a handful of limited festival screenings the film is slated to be released in early 2025 with details to be announced shortly.
In the meantime, we recently ranked up a list of animated shorts from Grand Theft Auto that we think could make for fine animated series adaptations.
Updated December 22nd: Mubi has announced a Feb 21st stream date with a limited theatrical release happening January 17 and released a new trailer.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
