Our Take

This time around, Crunchyroll felt the need to release two dubbed episodes at once this week with the first one putting more focus on Yuki’s day out with Hitoyoshi, Riko, and Grace, showcasing lighthearted slice of life situations such as a fashion montage, playful Halloween-themed moments, and a zombie movie outing where Yuki’s unexpected fear of zombies added an adorable twist. Amidst the levity, we caught glimpses of her past, tied to her cherished maid outfit and her kind former master, adding emotional resonance to the humor.

As for the second episode, it took a darker turn, delving into Yuki’s tragic backstory, revealing her childhood as a prodigy and the devastating consequences it brought to her family. Yet, the tone remained balanced with comedic relief, including her endearing withdrawal from Katsuda sauce and Hitoyoshi’s steadfast support. The mysterious pink-haired girl returned, hinting at deeper connections, while the Katsuda Festival teased an exciting rivalry and the promise of a premium prize.

Overall, the episodes excelled in blending comedy, heartfelt character growth, and intriguing depth and drama without feeling overly heavy or rushed. Yuki’s multifaceted personality continues to shine, supported by Hitoyoshi’s genuine care and the group’s evolving dynamics. These story revelations offered satisfying moments of well-earned drama and depth and I can’t wait to see more.
