English Dub Review: Fairy Tail – 100 Years Quest “The Moonlight Divinities”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Natsu and the gang are split up and each face one of the Moonlight Divinities, Selene’s top brass.
OUR TAKE
We’re well within the Moon Dragon God arc by now but already we’re repeating stuff from the last arc by having the protags fight some high ranking minions of the dragon. Like at least Aldoron waited until near the end of his arc to pull out his bunch of nobodies for everybody to soundly defeat, but Selene is just getting it out of the way right now it seems, only that instead of tree people they’re a bunch of white or moon themed women, but they’re all just as one note. Then again, none of the good guys actually won their fights this time, so I guess this is all meant to be leading to some big rematch down the line. That still doesn’t make any of Selene’s minions important enough for me to need to describe them, though if they end up becoming actual characters in the story with some development and such, perhaps I’ll change my mind about that. Although for now, Natsu and Gray have to face off against Lucy, Happy, Wendy, and Carla, who have all been turned into monsters somehow. Not really sure how that connects to the themes of white or the moon, but at a certain point you just need to throw shit against the wall I guess, at that point is twenty plus episodes into your sequel series to a nearly four hundred episode show.
In case it wasn’t clear, I wasn’t really pleased with this episode, but I do have some hope that things will turn around to some degree. There’s still about sixteen chapters left to adapt from it, meaning at the rate they usually go, that’s about four or five more episodes, which does sound like at least sufficient time to flesh some things out and have a big bombastic fight with Selene as a dragon, which we didn’t really get against Aldoron and only kind of got against Mercphobia. On top of that, with the introduction of this third alternate universe, characters have a lot more access to magical power, which is why Aquarius (who I remember hearing about dying but never actually saw the episode of her dying) has returned from dying. But before we go, can we just address that one snow illusion woman who made those naked snow clones appear to the guys? Gray saw Julia, that makes sense, Happy saw Carla and Touka, fine fine, but Natsu? He sees a whole bunch of ladies he knows, including Lucy, Erza, Mirajane, Lisanna, Cana…and WENDY. Natsu, buddy, do you have something you need to admit to? Or does the author? Well, I’m sure that’ll get addressed next week. Or not, probably. I think this is just Fairy Tail spinning its wheels and getting either bored with its premise or feeling like it can rest on its laurels and do the bare minimum to get a bigger pay out. And you know what? They might be right.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
