English Dub Review: Dungeon People “The Thieves’ Guild and the Dungeon”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Clay and Belle head to visit the Antomurg Thieves’ Guild, where they meet up with the guildmaster Renfringe, and learn of the unique workings of the dungeon of Antomurg.

Our Take:
It’s certainly not a Christmas-themed episode, but we did get something that’ll jingle our anime bells.  This week’s episode further explores the thieves’ guild that Clay works with as she and Belle head there to deliver several items to the guildmasters.  While there, Clay learns more about Belle and her connections with the guildmasters, Renfringe and Furin, as they cooperate in providing enough materials for the adventuring parties.  Additionally, she’s responsible for the disappearance of Clay’s guild because they send assassins to the dungeon.  It’s also revealed from Renfringe, a former assassin, that Brans may still be alive in the dungeon’s tenth floor, with the only clue being her father’s dagger.
This is another episode that continues its focus on the dungeon’s operations, mainly the monster lodgings.  The lodgings serve as a lobby for monsters to either hang out or practice in the training areas.  It’s also where Clay has her rematch against the goblin trio from the first episode led by Shieldmurg, the High Goblin, and encounters a mysterious dinosaur-type monster.  Of course, it isn’t without a few unexpected laughs that elevate the concept’s structure, including one of the goblins asking Clay about breeding.  However, it also provides enough space for the show’s plot progression, with Clay gradually discovering clues about her missing father as she continues her duty as a dungeon worker.  Whether we continue to learn more about Brans and his disappearance in later episodes remains unknown, but until then, Clay has another huge problem on her hands that shouldn’t be ignored.
