English Dub Review: Demon Lord, Retry! R “ReScue” ; “ReSurrect”

In the first episode, Kunai and Organ infiltrate the second slave market and rescue Princess Cake, who’s been abused by the market’s goblin dealer, Henzel.  Unsurprisingly, Kunai managed to put that goblin in his place, with Cake brutally finishing him off due to her lack of sanity.  Afterward, Kunai faces off against the vampiric prince of darkness, Oruit, who informs him of Kunai’s Dragonkin blood and the approaching Armageddon involving Lucifer.  This moment sheds a bigger light on Kunai’s mysterious origin, which may or may not serve a role in a possible third season.  Other than that, its messy editing and weak humor didn’t do much to warrant my intrigue in this detour.

The second episode is where the plot finally gets going, as Kunai and the others finally arrive at Belphegor’s residence.  Unfortunately, their infiltration didn’t go as planned, as Belphegor has proven to be much more powerful than they realized.  With his impenetrable golden armor on display, Belphegor quickly wiped out Mink and the entire monkey army in one swoop.  Even worse, he has taken Organ hostage as his “pet”, resulting in Kunai being the only hope left of rescuing her.  As expected, this set of episodes made their efforts to put on a decent show for the final battle, especially with a formidable foe like Belphegor.  Although, I won’t be surprised if Kunai is able to take him out quickly in the next episode.  Even if the season still struggles to improve on its quality and humor, I should be glad that this adventure is nearly over.
