Review: Krapopolis “Ty Man Woman Table Chairs Food”
Overview
There’s this new thing called a map, and all the cool cities are on it; Tyrannis and Hippocampus start a restaurant to earn Krapopolis its spot; Stupendous follows the map to face her longtime foe.
Our Take
Ty’s Man Woman Table Chair Food is the name of Ty’s new restaurant which has the sole responsibility of making sure the food is so good that Krapopolis can literally be put on the map…the first maps that is. And it’s with these first maps that see Stu and Spike traverse the torturous terrains and invade a neighboring city. But, if you didn’t have enough of restaurant management challenges whilst watching Bob’s Burgers, fortunately for you Krapopolis gives you its own serving of this very same trope.
On a network rife with restaurant TV shows featuring Gordon Ramsay, perhaps writer Hilary Winston at Krapopolis thought there would be a lot of that interest fed into the animated comedy and it mostly works. From disorderly customers to arguments about food quality and branding, Ty’s adventures in restaurant management are largely entertaining and features a bevy of guest stars including Keith David, Brian Baumgartner (The Office), Debra Wilson and a slew of others.
It’s good that the restaurant plot was entertaining because Stu and Spike’s adventure seems to taper off in terms of any real semblance of importance. Brian Baumgartner’s Casey might be one of the funniest characters of the show and I hope giving him a restaurant will be the catalyst to giving him more screen time. In any event, the star of the episode, which is Ty’s restaurant, does a more-than-serviceable job of giving up the giggles.
