Review: Invincible Fight Girl “Way of the World”
Overview
Andy’s hopes of training under the wrestler Quesa Poblana are dashed; she accompanies new acquaintance Craig to a county fair with the promise of finding a new teacher; there she finds a boy with a dream, in need of help.
Our Take
One of the big things I like about Invincible Fight Girl is that despite the fact that we’re clearly getting a My Hero Academia cover band, because of the show’s ten episodes, we don’t waste a lot of time. Here we are halfway through the show’s first ten episodes and we’ve already got ourselves TWO big matches with this one being the length of pretty much the entirety of the episode’s runtime. I like that. TV shows get to the point and then not rush the scenes that we are looking for.
Granted if you were hoping for a hero’s tale where the title character is just going to bum rush right to the top, I’ve got news for ya. This week’s episode sees Andy get mopped by MBrandon and it ain’t pretty. I mean, the fight choreography, the art direction, the scripted moves, are all pretty. But, this bitch gets battered and bruised and insulted the entire time and it might be one of the most polarizing scenes I’ve seen in a long time. On one hand, I’m rooting for Andy to win, but the action-packed sequences are so much fun I just wanted to see more and more of her getting turned up.
I hear that Invincible Fight Girl has ten episodes on back order that would only get greenlit if the first ten episodes of the series does well in the ratings. Right now it’s tracking as the #1 most popular show during the series’ first week with just under 200k viewers…will that be enough?
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
