English Dub Review: Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister “From Dawn till Dusk”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Uryu is flummoxed by Yae’s peck on the cheek, but is only confused further when Asahi and Yuna start acting strange around him too.

OUR TAKE

After last week wrapped up the first big hurdle Uryu and the sisters had to face together, this episode is more about showing how Uryu has officially become a fixture around the Amagami household, while also hinting at bigger developments to come. I mean it’s also about having Uryu freak out about the possibility of one and then all of the sisters liking him, which I’m sure they all do now to some extent, but…ya know, I’m trying to pretend there’s a greater character development analysis that can be done here. But seriously, while it is very much about teasing further romance between him and all three of them individually, it is also worth pointing out how the events of the festival did actually help cement that Uryu has basically stopped being an outsider to the sisters since he worked his ass off to help them protect the shrine. Naturally that’s going to have an impact on their impressions of him…and also this is a harem show so he’s gotta get in their heads somehow. So, now we’re starting to see him like them more and them like him more, though in what way that will become a conflict is still a bit unclear.

Yae kicked this off by giving him that kiss on the cheek, which could be easily written off as a friendly gesture. But Uryu is a teenage boy who just got his first bit of affection from a girl his age so of course he’s going to overanalyze it until his brain overheats. Meanwhile, Asahi ends up helping him and still feels insecure about being the youngest and treated as such, so she gives him a nibble on the ear to show how “mature” she actually is. And to top it off, Yuna shows she’s had some feelings brewing in her as she almost ends up kissing him after meeting him in private. However, the only reason she doesn’t is that Uryu has another vision, this time confirming that what he’s getting is premonitions of things that may happen in the future. It seemed clear that weird trip he took when he stumbled a few episodes ago was likely not a one time thing, but this seals the deal that there will likely be more coming. As for what they mean and where they will be going, well that’s anyone’s guess, but we’ve got twenty more episodes to get a few more hints.
