English Dub Review: Oshi No Ko “Freedom”
Overview:
Aqua doesn’t have to live for revenge and can finally look towards a brighter future. But what does this mean for the relationships he’s cultivated in pursuit of a killer?
Our Take:
Aqua might be a killer himself, a lady killer that is. Without even trying he has Akane and Kana all over him though with how this episode ended I’m a little more on the fence when it comes to Akane. But Kana is clearly in love with that boy and has to know what he is doing when they go shopping for a new suitcase together. He paid for her coffee and even got reservations for two at a fancy restaurant. I don’t think he intended to send mixed signals but that is exactly what he did.
He then invited Akane on the trip he’s going on with Kana and his sister which I don’t see going over well. Not only that but he hit her with the “We need to talk about the relationship”. I’m with Akane and wouldn’t want to wait on edge for the trip just to get broken up with so I’m glad they talked first. This was where I got confused about Akane because I was sure she was in love with Aqua but when he asked her she said she wasn’t sure about her feelings. But when Aqua told her about why he didn’t need to focus on revenge anymore she seemed to realize something Aqua hadn’t that would lead him to still pursue revenge. I wonder what it was because Aqua is usually on top of all the possibilities so maybe this shows that deep down he wants to live his life without the cloud of revenge.
