English Dub Review: Mission: Yozakura Family “Easterly Wind; Weapon”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Futaba defeats Akai as the rest of the family makes their way deeper into Tanpopo’s base and encounters more agents.

OUR TAKE

We kick off the final five episodes of the season with the start of the assault on Tanpopo, which naturally means that each of the family is going to get their own fight to show off their moves and go all out in ways we haven’t seen them do before. This is also nice because since this whole season has focused pretty much solely on Taiyo, we’ve only really gotten to see the other siblings act as back up to him in any notable fight they were present for. Now, since things are serious and everyone has their own enemy to fight, this gives each Yozakura sibling the chance to just be themselves and pull out the cool signature moves they couldn’t before. First off is Futaba, who is unfortunately the only girl sibling allowed on the frontlines as Mutsumi and Shion are back in support roles, although Shion is looking to be a more active part of next episode’s fights through her hacking. As for Futaba, she faces off against Akai, whose power is basically Itachi’s Amaterasu fire but pink instead of black. Fat lot of good it does against Futaba whose “Blooming” ability blows Akai out like a candle, even stopping her from burning herself alive due to backstory trauma.

That’s one agent down and leaves four to go (not including Makoto and Momo who gotta be taken out last) and wouldn’t you know it, there are four other siblings who are raring to get into big fights of their own, some of which have already started. The next biggest one happening currently being Shinzo versus Kurosawa, a being made of liquid metal who can’t be taken down through conventional weaponry that are Shinzo’s usual specialty. Luckily he came prepared and brought along a new more highly specialized weapon, Turmeric, which apparently is made of a formless alloy he can mold at his will. He also activates his own Blooming, which is ALSO apparently pretty dangerous and has led to some deaths in the past, hence why it hasn’t been used much since. And I guess we’ll see how that battle concludes next week, along with the next episode titles’ namesake, Shion and Kengo facing off against Aonuma, whose abilities are ice-based, and Chacha, a big monster looking individual with a giant head. Now doesn’t THAT sound like a good time? Well, tune in next week to find out!
