English Dub Review: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? “(Odr) Partner”

Overview:

Bell and Syr finally go on their festival date. Unfortunately, several meddlesome groups insist on being the third wheel.

Our Take:

One of the Freya familia soldiers called Bell a “horny rabbit” and there’s a part of me that wishes that was true. It seems like in anime a character is either a super pervert or unrealistically oblivious. Bell is aware of his feelings for Ais at least but when it comes to the affections of the other women in his life he almost never addresses it. It’s become pretty obvious to everyone that Syr has romantic feelings towards Bell and now it’s looking like she’s planning quite the advance. I’ve enjoyed this season so far especially because we’ve seen Ais in two straight episodes and she seemed a little more distressed watching Bell with Syr this time.

I’ll be honest I’m getting a little impatient when it comes to the mystery surrounding Syr. I even went back and rewatched some of the older seasons to see if there’s any hints about her being more than a waitress. Nope, she’s been a waitress who’s interested in Bell since the beginning with not even a hint of being linked to the Freya familia. I hope we get some answers in the upcoming episodes soon because this has an opportunity to be awesome.
