English Dub Review: Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest “The Howling Earth”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

With all five orbs destroyed, Aldoron begins to awaken, causing chaos all around Fairy Tail and Touka.

OUR TAKE

As mentioned last time, now that all of the orbs meant to seal Aldoron’s power have been broken, we are now in the final stage of the Wood Dragon God Arc. Fittingly, it means the aforementioned Wood Dragon God being an active participant…kind of. For one, if like me you were concerned about all of these buildings and people who seemingly had been living there for at least decades…well, don’t be! They were never people in the first place, just seeds who could be instantly re-absorbed whenever the orbs were destroyed! I guess that takes care of what was supposed to be the only real moral dilemma about sealing or killing him in the first place, huh. On top of that, the seeds then pop back out (or are replaced by other seeds?) called God Seeds which mimic someone within their target’s mind. They seem to WANT to mimic the strongest person their target thinks of, though they can apparently be tricked into becoming whomever the target is thinking of at any given moment, like when Natsu has one turn into Happy. So, even though Fairy Tail seems to be fully out of Touka’s mind control, we may get a few more Fairy Tail vs itself fights coming in the weeks ahead.

As for Touka, or rather The White Mage, we finally get a little insight into where he got some of her info. Apparently, the one who informed her about Aldoron’s sealing orbs was none other than…the Moon Dragon God, Selene, who also somehow seals The White Mage’s magic after Aldoron is awakened. This probably means White Mage will no longer be an enemy after this, or at least no longer that much of a threat, which will leave Diabolos as the only major enemy group to deal with aside from the Dragon Gods. Plus, White Mage has now been fully expelled from Touka the cat, meaning they are completely separate entities now and Touka can probably just join Fairy Tail on her own. However, we still have a giant (or little, according to Selene) wood dragon to deal with, which will probably stretch into the the next few episodes before we can deal with anything else, so hang in there as we close in on the conclusion to the Wood Dragon God Arc…and move into the Moon Dragon God Arc not long after. Anyone else tired of dragons yet?
