English Dub Review: Demon Lord 2099 “The Shadows of Shinjuku”
Overview:
Veltol is asked to work as Takahashi’s bodyguard. Hoping to test the strength of his restored faith as well, Veltol planned to launch a surprise attack on the yakuza, but their run-of-the-mill heist led to unexpected developments, swallowing the two of them deeper into the city’s dark underbelly.
Our Take:
Something about starting a fight by using the opening line you use in your stream is amazing to me. I’m enjoying this show a lot so far, even the action is pretty good and the fact that the V-Tuber stuff is a part of it makes it even better to me. Is Veltol overpowered? Yes and no, the only reason he’s gotten this far is because of how many followers he’s gained on his stream.
There were some revelations we had in this episode that were a little more heavy-handed than I expected from a show like this. Apparently, there’s a battery that is powered by immortals. Some of the imagery we were shown was very reminiscent of genocides in our world so I don’t think this series is going to be all laughs. Machina was on a list of immortals and now Veltol can’t reach her so nothing better happen to her!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
