The family go to carnival where Cricket gets an ominous fortune about his fate, and later the family goes to an escape room.

OUR TAKE

Big City Greens is back in primetime for this week to show off its spooky Halloween episodes, both focusing on something of the creepy nature, but ending on a pretty wholesome lesson. First off is the carnival episode that focuses on Cricket trying to escape being slapped by a sticky hand, a clear metaphor for the ETERNAL FATE OF OMINOUS DEATH THAT HOVERS OVER US ALL UNTIL THE DAY WE DIE. I mean, it’s probably not that since this is a kid’s show, but trying to avoid something inevitable is a pretty easy way to generate scary stuff. Which is why it’s pretty funny that Cricket actually ends up leaning into it and tries to make the prediction happen FASTER. So yeah, that’s the lesson here kids. If you know you’re going to die SOMEDAY, might as well take matters into your hands and take care of it as soon as possible. For legal reasons, this is a joke, and this site does not condone the self harm of any individual! Let’s just get that out of the way in case any of our readers somehow take this as a sign our site takes anything seriously at any point.

The other segment of the episode, focusing on escape rooms, is interesting in its own way because it relies on our good pal CONTINUITY. In this case, we have the return of Chip Whistler, ostensibly the main antagonist of the series, who apparently had a fall from grace in a previous episode or season or something. For my part, the reason I liked this show’s movie was because it didn’t rely on so much continuity. So, as someone who is not a regular viewer of Big City Greens, I have no idea what the hell happened to make this guy look so disheveled and having a chip (haha) in his tooth. But apparently it was something pretty bad that happened so now he’s out for revenge. Of course he does not get it this episode since this is not really meant to be super plot important, but I’m sure he will someday! He does try by faking video footage of Cricket abandoning his family, which we know he sometimes tends to do, but thankfully everything is cleared up by the end.
