English Dub Season Review: Berserk of Gluttony Season One

Overview:

Fate Graphite is cursed with the skill “Gluttony”. He is starving until the day he kills a thief and devours the man’s strength and his soul. The true hunger of Fate’s Gluttony has awakened and he will be the master of his own destiny.

Our Take:

I would love for there to be a season two of this because it’s so close to being finished I’m pretty sure. The characters and story are just good enough to enjoy and want to see more of. Wanting a second season of a show is a good sign that it was enjoyable and I can say that Berserk of Gluttony is definitely enjoyable.

Berserk of Gluttony isn’t an isekai but it has the feelings of one. All the people of this world have skills and level up, which is interesting. It’s not just the main character, it’s kind of interesting to imagine a world where your skills and level ups help decide what you’re going to do. Fate has moments of becoming OP once he discovers how his gluttony skill is best utilized. But it is balanced well because of his relationship with Greed his sword. I never thought a sword would be one of the best characters in a show but Greed is a true homie.

The animation isn’t bad by any means but it isn’t much to write home about either. Fight scenes are done well and there wasn’t anything that was so egregiously bad I noticed it right away. Garret Storms does a great job as Fate because he has two different personalities and Garret manages to have a different voice for both. His tone when talking to Roxy is really fascinating as well. Chris Gardner voices the sword Greed and I think he’s the main reason I loved the character.

There are still a lot of questions I have about this world and it’s characters. It seems like a fantasy world built on the ruins of a world much like our own. Normally that can be a boring trope but I would like to see if I’m right. I want to see what is up with the weapons of deadly sin, and of course I would love to see what happens with Fate and Roxy’s relationship. Please give us a second season!
