English Dub Review: I Parry Everything “I Parry a Dragon”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Noor steps in to face the dragon that appears over the royal capital.  A fierce battle unfolds; it’s time to parry every attack!

Our Take:
Another dragon has entered the battlefield, and the last time I checked, it is not a frog.  It is actually the Dragon of Calamity feared by everyone in the royal capital.  Well, except Noor, who thinks it’s just another ordinary monster instead of a massive world-destroying threat.  Man, you would think that by this time, Noor would’ve realized what he’s up against, but again, it’s hard to ignore his good intentions despite a few misunderstandings.  Regardless, Noor and his allies, including Rolo, arrived at the capital in time to tame the merciless dragon and an army of Goblin Emperors.
Amid the latest monster-of-the-week clash, the episode offered a couple of character moments that attempted to elevate its stakes.  The first is that Noor dreamt of being a dragon slayer when he was young at the beginning of the episode.  Of course, his dream became a reality as his impeccable parrying helped him save King Clays and subdue the mighty Dragon of Calamity, who happens to be a female dragon in the English dub.  The other is King Clays’ potential sacrifice as he stayed to protect his kingdom from the prideful dragon after learning of King Deridas’s growing obsession with controlling his dungeon.  Besides those moments, “I Parry a Dragon” delivered what I expected from the previous episodes regarding the narrative, for better or worse.
