English Dub Review: Dandadan “That’s a Space Alien, Ain’t It?”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Momo brings Ken, whom she decides to call Okarun, to her house. However, a massive extraterrestrial appears and suddenly attacks them.
Our Take:
Following an insane encounter with the aliens known as the Serpo, Momo and Ken have another problem on their hands. Spoiler alert: it involves Ken’s junk in his trunk. The first episode introduced us to a chemistry that’s uniquely entertaining enough to elevate the show’s bizarrely kinetic concept. Despite Momo and Ken being at each other’s throats occasionally, they tend to rely on one another to escape their dilemmas alive. With Momo’s psychokinetic abilities, she can prevent Turbo Granny’s curse from affecting Ken and consuming him. However, from the looks of this episode, they’re not without the disadvantage of draining her energy.
The episode also explores more of their development outside their wacky beliefs and abilities. The most notable one is Momo calling Ken “Okarun”, meaning “occult”, because he shares the same name as her celebrity crush. It’s also revealed that Ken was attempting to make a friend who has a common interest in the supernatural, explaining his desire to talk to Momo. But, of course, their moment was interrupted by a sumo-like alien when Momo accidentally forgot to place the protective seal back on her grandmother’s house. Amid its supernatural hijinks, the episode continues the show’s emphasis on its character exploration and the comedy that comes from their chemistry. The result is another highly entertaining chapter that benefits from its stylized animation and humorous character moments.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
