Overview
Wendi (Megyn Kelly) strong-arms the family into a Homes for Humanity project, swapping their digital devices for volunteer service. When Karponzi (Tyler Fischer) shows more interest in building coalitions rather than houses at the charity construction site, Mr. Birchum (Adam Carolla) saves the day with his handyman skills.
Our Take
DailyWire+’s freshman animated series has reached the halfway point and I can safely say that Mr. Birchum is officially the animated adaptation of Home Improvement but without the sophistication in the writing department (an issue we’ve discussed for several weeks now). Mr. Birchum continues its constant borrowing from Family Guy not just with the cutaways gags that the series throws in each and every week, but also this week we get pages straight out of Family Guy’s infamous “roadhouse” bit, just nowhere near as funny or well-written as the aforementioned series on FOX that Mr. Birchum creator Adam Carolla used to work on.
“Oh, the Humanity” actually has a great idea for a premise. Imagine a scenario where people PRETEND to charitable work for the brownie points and the social guffaw only to find out that it’s all horseshit in the end with the money going to some sort of corruptible entity. In fact, you would think the show could have used this opportunity to shed some light about the controversy surrounding the #BLM controversies, but no, none of that happens. Instead, we get another instance of the script just not delivering complete with ANOTHER Birchum family member, this time Jeanie, referring to her dad by his last name which is now the second time this season I’ve caught a Birchum family member referring to the father by his last name.
At least this week’s episode brought with it a decent amount of guest stars! The seldom seen Roseanne Barr and Patrick Warburton came by today for some pretty humorous sequences and Danny Trejo also guest-starred as “Robert” though the lines he delivered were so few and quick I wouldn’t even blame you if you missed them outright. I also couldn’t help but notice that the animation production is getting quite a bit choppy which seems to be yet another post-production issue though a lot of that I could be fine with if any of the jokes would land which is an experience that happens few and far between.
I do find ironic that Adam Carolla voices the role of a guy that has a bunch of tools at his disposal. I think I’d collect a few of them and start hurling them at some of the producers of this show. For an episode that seemed to want to focus on people not doing their jobs while on a job site, this show certainly showcases some of those same challenges on the production back end.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
