English Dub Review: Delicious in Dungeon “Dumplings 2/Bacon and Eggs”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Still wrestling with their new forms, the crew must overcome the gargoyles. Later, they descend deeper into the dungeon. What monsters will they try next?
Our Take:
I must admit that this is a weird way to end the season. But considering the amount of bizarre stuff I experienced throughout the series, I shouldn’t be surprised at the outcome. Regardless, we finally reached its conclusion that involves Laios and the crew adapting to their changed forms. However, the only creatures standing in their way are the gargoyles hunting them since the previous episode. Fortunately, their transformed personalities have a surprising side effect that turns the tide of their “final battle”, which lets them perform Changeling magic by forming a circle around them. With this new ability, they changed the gargoyles into statues, which also gained Changeling magic.
After magically returning to normal, the remaining episode has the team traveling deep into the dungeon with an automatic trolley. Along the way, we get one last plot expedition through Laios, who explains why he got into adventuring with Falin, who was shunned by society for her magic until she met Marcille. It also follows a similar structure of teasing what’s to come in a potential new season, with Laios and the team planning to find the winged lion and defeat Sissel. But that’s not all. They also conjured a plan to eat the bottom half of Falin’s monstrous form to change her back into a human, but considering the size of it, they’ll probably need some extra mouths. Additionally, even though the title suggests they’ll be bacon and eggs, they’re not exactly their final meal of the season. Instead, Senshi uses them as a metaphor for Falin’s condition.
The season finale may not have been exhilarating, but it still serves as an entertaining conclusion to this surprisingly delectable series. Fortunately for us, we don’t have to wait to know when we’ll reunite with Laios’ party, as a second season has just been announced after this episode aired. It’s always great when another season is announced the same day as its finale because that’s when we know that a series is successful enough to continue. This has been quite a delicious experience for me, which I’ll explain further in my upcoming season review.
Just cancel this bird already. The chicken is beyond cooked. It's burnt to a crisp.
