English Dub Review: The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic “Wham! Ultimate Healing Punch!”
Overview
Usato’s first battle quickly turns into a waking nightmare when he realizes his friends are tangling with their fated foe, the Black Knight. Can he make it in time to save them?
Our Take
Continuing the harrowing war, Kazuki and Suzune find themselves underestimating the Black Knight’s strength, revealing a newfound interest in Usato, who has embraced his true self rather than the facade he wore in high school. Usato’s timely intervention alters the course of events, defying the future visions he received earlier in the series. Following Rose’s orders, he engages in combat to ensure the safety of his classmates and confronts the Black Knight head-on.
Of course under Rose’s orders, he proceeds to attack if necessary and it’s one hell of a display as Usato’s priority is to bring both his classmates back to safety while kicking the Black Knight’s ass, and Suzune even does the unthinkable and says something unexpected that made me smile hard, but let’s say it’s one hell of a “full circle” moment for the rest of the show, though I believe it’s far from over with the way the fight ended. But for once, since the day they met, Rose is inherently proud of how far Usato has come into her platoon…
Overall, this was an incredible episode that made you emotionally invested towards everything we’ve see up to this moment. While it still emphasized the ugliness of war, we also have a proper payoff to how much Usato has grown as a character, along with how much of a badass he’s become even if he doesn’t see it that way. And while the ending felt like there was a sense of finality, we now have two episodes left, and I’m curious to see where this goes next.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
