English Dub Review: Shangri-La Frontier “Bird with Rabbits vs. Skeletal Choir”
Overview
Sunraku, Emul, and Bilac face off against the area boss the Humming Lich in the Canyon of Ancient Souls. Struggling to inflict damage, Bilac rushes to rework the Dullahan General’s Decapitator into a holy-attribute weapon.
Our Take
The journey through the Canyon of Ancient Souls continues for Sunraku, Emul, and Bilac. Encountering a Crystal Scorpion, Sunraku’s determination to fight is ignited, but he restrains himself to prioritize facing the area boss, using Lycagon’s Mark to fend off lower-level threats. However, the boss, a Humming Lich, proves formidable, as Sunraku’s attacks with non-holy weapons fail to land. Bilac steps in to help carve a new item, while Sunraku and Emul buy time against the onslaught of anomalies spawned by Sunraku’s actions.
Despite the difficulties, the Humming Lich and its clones share the same HP pool, allowing Sunraku to exploit this weakness and eliminate the clones with 1-hit KOs. With the Dullahan General’s Decapitator and Glowing Pierce, Sunraku targets the main body, leading to a fierce battle. Ultimately, Sunraku and Bilac overcome the odds and progress to Eightfold. Meanwhile, Emul is easily tempted with carrots to do Sunraku’s bidding, and while the rabbits later return to Rabituza, Sunraku’s decision to rebel against the expected path and pursue something he hears about, sounds like something he’d typically do…
Overall, a passable episode, with an enjoyable boss fight. The teamwork between Sunraku and the rabbits is commendable, with Sunraku utilizing them effectively during combat. It was also funny seeing Sunraku throw them at the enemy multiple times. At first, I wasn’t sure what Sunraku was up to when he dropped off both rabbits but when he made his way back to that foggy area, part of me somewhat knew where it was going. It’s like when you watch a horror film and when they’re warned not to look in a certain place, they’re gonna fucking do it anyway, otherwise there isn’t much of a conflict in those films. But with 2 episodes remaining, I’m curious to see where this ends.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
