English Dub Review: The Apothecary Diaries “Blue Roses”
Overview:
Lakan challenges Jinshi to produce blue roses to present at the upcoming garden party, forcing Jinshi to turn once again to Maomao for her help.
Our Take:
I’m going to get some bookkeeping out of the way first, a second season of this series has been officially announced. That’s good news because I love this series and it feels like it’s finally starting to move towards some of the romance aspects. I don’t know if the light novel/manga are anywhere near done but more of this and Frieren would be much appreciated.
As for this series, it seems like Maomao is finally ready to confront Lakan. I’m not sure what her plan is but something tells me it’s going to be awesome. If the preview is anything to go by there is going to be a chess match.
Maomao had to make the impossible happen by making Blue Roses bloom before they were in season. What made it interesting was that she used steam in a closed room to make sure the plant buds didn’t get too cold. She spent almost all night with them until they were about to bloom and then gave them water with some blue dye to make sure they came out right. She outsmarted Lakan’s request and this season might just end with a bang.
