English Dub Review: Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! “Yakiniku with Friends Is Super Delish”

Overview:

Minami and Sayuri race to the scene of Tsubasa and Reina’s date. Reina tells Tsubasa about her circumstances after being moved to tears over the movie’s heroine’s story. Tsubasa, having been reminded of his situation, then tells her his story.

Our Take:

This episode had way too many similarities to this week’s episode of The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil, down to following around the couple on a date. Sure that isn’t exactly a new trope for an anime but it was a bit odd to review two episodes on the same day that had very similar subject matter. The difference here is that everyone knows it’s a date and Tsubasa is coming to terms with how he might feel about other people.

At first, I thought Minami was going to be jealous but the second she saw that Reina was who Tsubasa was on the date with she changed her tune into that of a typical fangirl. If it wasn’t Reina though I bet she would have been super jealous and there’s a part of me that thinks she was regardless. After all, she told Tsubasa that he owes her a date now as well which I think we are all looking forward to that one.
