English Dub Review: Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! “Time Flies Super Fast”

Overview:

The new term begins. Minami catches Tsubasa on the way to class and starts teasing him ruthlessly. The two are thrilled to learn they are in the same class again, but Minami still seems gloomy. After school, Minami says she has something to tell Tsubasa.

Our Take:

I don’t know who to root for anymore, they are all great. Sayuri has feelings for Tsubasa and seeing Minami become more proactive in spending time with him has her feeling a certain way. You could tell the whole time she was playing an online game with Tsubasa that she was in love with that boy. I wouldn’t even go so far as to say that Tsubasa is a typical dense anime protagonist because Sayuri keeps her affections fairly secret. Minami on the other hand has gone on full attack mode but Tsubasa thinks she’s just “teasing” him. That’s why I loved when Minami told him “I haven’t teased you a single time”.

I also don’t know how much time has passed since the series started. It’s either been a year or just a couple of months, I’m leaning towards it being a couple of months because surely more things would have happened during the warmer months and all we’ve seen is cold and snow. I do hope time passes quickly until Golden Week because Minami is about to plant her flag and I’m intrigued to see that happen this early in a series.
