English Dub Review: Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! “Natsukawa-Senpai Is Super Good-Looking”;“Final Exams Are Super Hard”
Overview:
Tsubasa, Sayuri, and Minami have a study party. Tsubasa loses track of time and is scolded when he gets home late. The next day, Tsubasa bumps into the breathtaking Rena-senpai on his way to school and is soon shocked to realize she is his neighbor.
Tsubasa is ordered to score high on exams, so when the lovely Rena offers to tutor him, he accepts. He soon realizes that Rena expects a reward for her help. Minami spots them together and is thrilled at first, but then starts to feel very uncomfortable.
Our Take:
I knew something like this would happen. There was still one more girl yet to be introduced and I was worried she was going to be awesome too and lo and behold she is! Also, the new character, Rena, is voiced by Jill Harris so that makes her even more great. But it seems like she’s a little more bold about how she interacts with Tsubasa.
Tsubasa is told by his grandmother that if he wants to stay in Hokkaido he will have to score in the top ten of his class after missing curfew when studying with Sayuri and Minami. Rena offers to tutor him and with the stakes being so high he takes her up on it but he gets secretive with Minami about why he can’t study with her.
Rena wants a reward for helping Tsubasa and she wants to go on a date. In typical rom-com fashion, Minami’s mom sees them when they are out on their date. She then tells Minami and I hope that this will lead to some progression in the romance department for this series. Unfortunately, this was where the second episode ended and now we have to wait. Rena has thrown a huge wrinkle in how I want to see this turn out.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
