English Dub Review: Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End “The Height of Magic”
Overview:
The monster Spiegel creates clones of those who enter the Ruins of the King’s Tomb. To defeat Spiegel, Frieren, and Fern take on a hard fight against Frieren’s clone. Meanwhile, Denken, Lawine, and the others fight the rest of the clones, but they are no match against Sense’s clone.
Our Take:
It seemed like things were going really well for everyone. A lot of the clones were getting dealt with in a calm and orderly manner, and the plan to defeat Frieren’s clone was going well. But as we know, things rarely go according to plan. I was beginning to wonder if the clones that get defeated could come back as long as the creature is still alive and it turns out they can. What that means is this battle became a war of attrition and the Frieren clone needs to be defeated fast in order to pass the test as well as survive.
If you’re a fan of animation at all then this arc has been something you will remember for a while. I can’t remember the last time I saw animation this good. The effects showing Frieren and Fern’s magic being used was some of the best I’ve ever seen.
There are two episodes left and I don’t think I’m ready for this series to be over. I feel pretty confident that this series has done well enough to earn a second season but I think it might be getting close to the manga.
This arc has been a joy to watch because not only have some of our favorite characters got a lot of development but we’ve been introduced to some fantastic new characters. The only negative I have to say about this arc is that I miss getting to see Stark. But with this part of the exam wrapping up I’m hopeful he will get some screentime soon.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
