OUR TAKE

Eyyyyyy, it only took them half the series but the main couple is finally officially together! As if there was any doubt they would be to begin with, haha. In all seriousness, I’m glad they only took six episodes to get to this point, since now we have another six to properly explore this dynamic, which isn’t a lot of time but could be enough to flesh out things just a bit. I’ve already gone into the reasonings as to why either Itsuomi or Yuki would like each other; Yuki finds his worldliness fascinating and his touched by his curiosity and willingness to learn more about how to communicate with her, while Itsuomi just seems totally smitten and fascinated with her more than any of this trips overseas as if she’s her own infinite world he could travel across just by being with her all the time. Now that it’s official, it seems clear that their bond is built on a curiosity with each other, even over seemingly bigger things happening in their lives. That can be a really solid foundation for a relationship, especially in the early stages after things are fully into the labels stage like they are entering now.

I suppose my question now is what the plans are for the rest of the series. It seems like the childhood friend Yuki has, Oshi, is still going to be a bit of an issue since there are implications he has feelings for Yuki he has simply never had to face or deal with, but is now going to end up realizing at the same time as finding out that she is already dating. I’ve never been in that PARTICULAR scenario but I can tell the dude is going to be in for a bad time. As for that girl from last week, I can also see her becoming an annoyance again, but not in any way a threat to the relationship, which is fine. This doesn’t need to be a show about so much drama that the possibility of romance is in the balance, it can just be a story about two people learning to fall for each other, know what they want, and carry on from there. And since Crunchyroll actually bothered to put in the subtitles for the texting scenes this time, it should actually be pretty easy for me to keep up with what’s happening in it in the remaining half a dozen episodes.
