Anime Japan 2024: Netflix Announces 2024 Slate
Anime Japan is wrapping up and with HiDive and Crunchyroll already announcing their English dub adaptations on the way it was time for Netflix to put up or shut up. They did just that with a slew of announcements for anime on the way that you can see previews for below.

To eat or to be eaten? In the depths of a dungeon, adventurer Laios’ sister is devoured by a Red Dragon. Barely escaping with his life, Laios is forced to return, not only to rescue his sister before she’s digested, but also to find sustenance and resources within the dungeon. With a daring resolve, he decides to consume the dangerous creatures they encounter, turning attackers into sustenance as they navigate through slimes, basilisks, mimics, and dragons.

Grimms’ Fairy Tales get a bold reboot on Netflix, with character concepts by CLAMP and animation by WIT Studio! Once upon a time, brothers Jacob and Wilhelm collected fairy tales from across the land and made them into a book. But there’s more to the story. They also had a much younger sister, the innocent and curious Charlotte, whom they loved very much. One day, while the brothers were telling Charlotte a fairy tale as usual, they saw that she had a somewhat melancholic expression on her face. “Do you suppose they really lived happily ever after?” she asked. The pages of Grimms’ Fairy Tales, written by Jacob and Wilhelm, are now presented from the unique perspective of Charlotte, who sees the stories quite differently from her brothers.

The well-loved T・P BON by Fujiko F. Fujio is getting an anime adaptation! Ordinary junior high school student Bon Namihira encounters Time Patrol member Ream Stream, a girl from the future, along with a strange creature called Buyoyon. The Time Patrol agents save those who died unfortunate deaths that don’t significantly alter the course of history. During these missions, anyone who sees Ream and the other agents has their memories erased. However, Bon’s memory remains mysteriously intact, so he is brought in as a Time Patrol agent-in-training. Teaming up with Ream to carry out missions, Bon is excited about using tools of the future, including the “time boat” that can sail through time and space. Bon gets carried away at times, but through the missions, he touches the lives of people who lived wisely in each era. Go on an epic journey throughout Earth and the history of humanity along with T・P BON!

The legendary Weekly Shonen Jump manga series by Nakaba Suzuki, author of “The Seven Deadly Sins,” gets its first anime adaptation! Third-grader Nanaumi Gawain lives with his grandfather in the mountains of Fukushima. He practices baseball with his friends all day long while dreaming of becoming the best hitter in the world. One day, he encounters a female professional golfer named Kiria Nishino and becomes enchanted by golf after hitting the ball over 300 yards on his first drive. There, his innate talent for golf blooms as he ruthlessly competes against gifted rivals from all around the world!

A dream come true for every martial arts enthusiast, Baki Hanma VS Kengan Ashura is the most anticipated anime crossover of the year. The “Baki” manga series, published in Akita Shoten’s “Weekly Shonen Champion,” is a mega-hit martial arts manga that has sold over 85 million copies. It tells the stories of various fighters, centered on the epic life-and-death clash between protagonist Baki Hanma, the youngest underground fighting champion, and his father Yujiro Hanma, the “strongest creature in the world.”
The massive hit manga “KENGAN ASHURA” remains steadfast as the most popular comic among readers of the comics website Ura Sunday and the comics app MangaONE. Humble office worker Kazuo Yamashita encounters mysterious martial artist Ohma Tokita and gets wrapped up in the “Kengan” matches, wherein corporations settle business disputes by betting large sums on seasoned fighters. With the upcoming film, an incredible collaboration between the anime series “Baki Hanma” and “KENGAN ASHURA” comes to life, exclusively on Netflix.
