English Dub Review Laid Back Camp “New Year’s Solo Camper Girl”
Overview
It’s New Year’s Eve. Rin arrives at the shore in Shizuoka. Nadeshiko is busy with her temp job when she receives a message from Rin.
Our Take
Rin’s solo camping trip continues while Nadeshiko and the Outdoor Adventure Club focus on their part-time jobs. Despite the lack of major developments, Rin manages to find some inventive solutions, keeping her adventures engaging. Later on, the narrative attempts to balance two distinct subplots, though at times it struggles to fully balance them.
Meanwhile, Nadeshiko and the School Camping Club embark on their escapades, including a standout moment where they employ “Tokyo Drift” tactics to catch a glimpse of the “Diamond Fuji” sunset, adding a layer of cultural richness to the story.
Overall, this episode offered a tranquil and heartwarming New Year’s special. The beautifully depicted locations, photographs, and cuisine contribute to its authentic “slice of life” atmosphere. While the “drifting” scene may seem out of place, it adds a touch of humor to the narrative, but at least, it wasn’t dull…
