English Dub Review: Undead Unluck “Do You Love the Change in Me?”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Gina continues her battle with Andy and Fuuko, further revealing her history with Andy. Andy uses the blood that sprays out of him to figure out what the invisible arms attacking them look like and once again makes use of Fuuko’s unluck in order to finish the fight, finally giving them both a place on the Roundtable.
OUR TAKE
And with that, Andy and Fuuko are able to join the organization that’s been chasing them since the show started, though it’s bittersweet. Gina, despite her having tortured and experimented on Andy for several decades, apparently wasn’t that bad a person, and even seemed like she got along with Andy pretty well. She was just someone who wanted to stay sixteen forever, and apparently did pretty well at doing that physically speaking. And on the practical side, she also worked pretty well as a way for Andy to further explain the power system of this show’s take on superpowers. There are apparently two types of ways that powers can effect others, which is on others or on the person using them. Andy regenerates himself, Fuuko and Gina do things that impact things other than themselves, and there is supposedly no overlap there. I’m sure that we’ll be seeing a lot of enemies or other members of the Roundtable who have one or the other, but I’m interested in seeing more of Andy’s type. It’s easy to see someone do stuff to things externally, but the opposite would probably require a bit more forethought, as we see with Andy, though I could be wrong there.
Also, this may be because it’s early on in the story, but I’m getting concerned a bit by how Andy is really the only one making use of Fuuko’s Unluck ability. Last episode made it seem like he was beginning to teach her how to utilize it herself, which may very well be the case, but here it looks like it’s right back to using her as part of his arsenal. He’s certainly someone who has had plenty of time to learn how to make use of seemingly impractical tools, so I don’t doubt he would be able to make use of her ability as he outright states he plans to. However, I do think that we should be seeing soon, if not by now, that Fuuko is also learning how to make use of this power for herself, especially since it was such a curse for her the majority of her life. I do know that she can only really use it right now by touching Andy specifically, but it doesn’t always have to be that way. Then again, this is a longer show than a lot of others coming out right now, so maybe we’ll get to see that if we give it enough time. For now, we will likely see how the main duo and/or couple learn to navigate their new organization now that they’re finally in it. And the fights are most certainly not over yet.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
