Eyes of Wakanda Animated Series Announced For Disney+

Disney’s Marvel had a screening for new and returning animation that we can expect in the foreseeable future. While there, we were shown two new episodes of the upcoming Marvel’s What If? second season which kicks off on December 22nd, plus given updates on X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

The least interesting part of the evening was the announcement of a new Black Panther-inspired series called Eyes of Wakanda. The reason why I say it was the least interesting of the announcements is because, in it, we get the story of “brave warriors” that have to travel the world getting vibranium artifacts. Now, this would be fascinating, if it weren’t for the fact that Disney XD had an MCU-inspired Black Panther animated series that had more-or-less the same premise. In fact, I would say 99 percent of the MCU/Disney XD spin-offs all revolved around some sort of a trinket that had to be found for the sake of saving all of mankind, so this premise had me not all that excited.

Fortunately, Marvel’s What If? season two kicks off in a few weeks and this looks a bunch more promising with a new episode debuting nightly which kicks off Dec. 22. Season two of “What If…?” continues the journey as The Watcher guides viewers through the vast multiverse, introducing brand new and familiar faces throughout the MCU. The series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments with an incredible voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their iconic roles.
