English Dub Review: Dead Mount Death Play “The Visitors”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
The mysterious Civil visits the Corpse God to have his fortune told, and the encounter surprises both of them. The necromancer draws a step closer to the traces of his old world, but are they friend or foe?

Our Take:
While we aren’t getting another doubleheader like last week, we at least get something pretty cool to compensate. Of course, I’m not just talking about the Corpse God allying with Xiaoyu. I’m talking about Xiaoyu getting a sick upgrade from the necromancer: a dragon arm resembling the Corpse God’s old friend from his home world. However, we won’t see him test his newfound power, at least not yet. Right now, the Corpse God has another business to attend to: fortune telling.
Unfortunately, the Corpse God’s newest customer may be far from normal, according to him. His new customers are the mysterious group we briefly see throughout the previous few episodes. “The Visitors” has the Corpse God and this unknown crew finally meeting face-to-face, as the truth behind them unravels in exciting ways. The group’s leader, who goes by “Civil”, visits the Corpse God in pursuit of the mystery behind Polka. However, the Corpse God discovers that Civil is surrounded by unhinged spirits, making him question if Civil is a human or a being from his old world. We also see that one of Civil’s members, Lulu, is a high-ranking stone elemental, similar to one of the Corpse God’s master’s friends.
It’s unsurprising that there’s much shocking information to take in, along with some ridiculous ones, like Misaki being a vampire. However, those things continue to be the reason I stuck around, besides the animation and humor. “The Visitors” is no different, especially with Misaki being as delightful as before. Of course, there’s also the matter of an enforcer from the Shinoyama family ruining the Corpse God’s latest appointment. Let’s see how Civil and the gang escape this predicament.
